You can play Riveri according to the rules of pétanque or bocce, but you can also use a quick version of the game with only one round. At the beginning, you throw a small metal ball – the target – into the central area of the playing field. Next, take turns. Launch one of your marbles-balls into any side of the starting area, so that it rotates in a circle, like on a roulette wheel. Before the ball stops, in the desired place on the starting area, simply place a special accessory on ball's trajectory, and pressing it against the edge of the starting area. The shape of the accessory itself will ensure the redirection of the ball to the center of the playing field. To get your ball close to the target, calculate the ball's trajectory, take into account the decrease in its speed, and use ricochets from other balls on the playing field. After the first series of throwing balls, the ball is thrown by the player whose best ball on the playing field is located further from the target than those of the other players. The winner of the round/game is the player whose glass ball is closest to the target when all players have used their stock of balls (6 each). The contact of the balls with the target, with the other balls or with the edge of the playing field is allowed.
The game can be played by 2 to 4 people or teams. A slightly more complex version of the game may consist of several rounds, with a score for each round. The winner of the round receives one point for each of their balls that is closer to the target than the best ball of the other players. There is no limit to the number of rounds. The first player to reach 13 points wins the game. It is also possible to play a fixed number of rounds, agreed upon by the players, and determine the winner based on the total number of points scored.
